The Global Mural Arts & Cultural Tourism Association promotes economic development through the arts and culture within our communities by supporting the creation of partnerships between cities, artists, local business and commerce, economic development authorities and tourism organisations. The association meets every two years for a grand Biennial Conference, The Global Mural Conference. It is hosted by a city that is an active member of the association, and members and guests from all over the world attend. Thus far, after an initial International Festival hosted in Katikati New Zealand in 1996, Global Conferences have been held every second year since 1998 in Canada, the USA, Scotland and Australia. In 2012, the Global Mural Conference will be held in Chemainus, British Columbia, home of Dr. Karl Schutz, who helped that town to become a major tourist attraction through its murals programs and who found the association in 1997.
The Benefits of taking part in the Global Mural Conference
Some of the greatest benefits from participating in the Global Mural Conference lie in marketing your achievements, and publicizing your city and country, to more than 100 delegates representing more than 60 different cities, 5 countries and 3 continents. Every year we have new projects and ideas introduced by new cities.
The Global Mural Conference can be compared to a 'University of Action Learning', where the delegates can find all the latest ideas and resources for marketing, publicity, financial resource development, legal aspects, the skills of negotiations, public relations and media management, commissioning artists, maintaining the murals and much more.
The conference provides a wide array of activities that encourage networking, developing new friendships and discovering new opportunities while enriching your life with new knowledge and energy, while charging up your batteries with regenerated enthusiasm. The camaraderie of Murals Societies around the globe has to be seen and experienced to be believed.
